What are the WPC Joists used for?
Our WPC Joists are designed to be fitted directly to a flat, solid surface (such as a concrete base, balcony or paving-slabbed area etc.)
So if you are planning to build your deck directly onto any of these types of surfaces our WPC Joists are perfect for your job; They provide a high level of moisture resistance, which makes them ideal for decking projects in which the substructure may be exposed to standing water.
Our WPC joists are not designed to be used on raised decking areas where they will be unsupported, please look at our Eco Lumber as an alternative in these circumstances.
What should I use to fix the WPC joists down to my chosen surface?
We sell 70mm x 8mm joist fixing screws that is suitable to use for fixing down our WPC joists to a solid surface.
Which way should the WPC joists be installed?
The joists are 40mm wide x 30mm high, they should be laid with the 40mm side flat on the ground, this results in a 30mm spacing from the floor.
Are your WPC Joists suitable for raised decking areas?
No. Our WPC joists must be supported along their full length when installed. This means that any decking projects which require the deck boards to be raised off the ground would not be suitable for our composite joists.
What can I use as an alternative to your WPC Joists for a raised decking area?
Our Eco Lumber is the perfect alternative to build your decking subframe with; it is waterproof, extremely durable and will not rot, warp or split in wet/humid conditions.
It requires no treatments or protective coatings and comes with a 10 year warranty.
What should I use to cut the WPC Joists?
We recommend using a sliding electric mitre saw circular saw with a minimum of a 40 tooth alternate top bevel finish blade.
